Bored to Tears

My life is kinda boring right now
at the clothes washer I sit and look
tap a few notes out on the piano
then read an upside-down book

try my best to fold the laundry
but email runs through my thoughts
and yet I don't care to check it
think I'll look at new curtains I bought

except the curtains are in the car
don't feel like walking outside
seems like it's been forever
waiting for the kids to arrive

flip through the TV channels
have only reruns that I've seen
radio songs I hated in the sixties
nothing on the computer screen

when life is boring and dull
nothing seems to go right
think I'll mosey into the kitchen
and find food, just a bite

open the fridge door wide
the cabinet door stands ajar
dishwasher open waits for loads
counter holds half-eaten candy bar

the trash is bagged but not taken out
there are dishes in the sink askew
things there are that need to be done
just not what I WANT to do
