The Hitchhiker (chapter 8)
I got back into the car,
handed Tony his cell phone
and started the car.
Tony: "Everything okay?"
Cynthia: "Yes, I feel better now that
I've called my babysitter."
Tony: "So, you have three kids huh?"
Cynthia: "Yes, I love them dearly."
Tony: "I'm tired."
Cynthia: "Me too, but I have
to get home."
Tony: "You don't mind if I
drift off do you?"
Cynthia: "No, go ahead."
As Tony ws drifting off to sleep,
I turned on the radio.
I needed something to keep me awake.
I was glad that the rain had stopped.
I didn't think the storm
was ever going to pass.
Radio Announcer: "There was a
muder this morning."
I knew I shouldn't have
turned the radio on.
Radio Announcer: "It happened around 1:30
this morning."
I wanted to turn the radio off,
but I wanted to know if
it was somebody I knew.
Radio Announcer: "The name of the victim
was not released.
The police say the person was hit
by a drunk driver on the highway."
I hoped it wasn't someone I knew.
They didn't released alot of details.
Radio Announcer: "More details about the
hit and run coming up
in the next hour."
