MOMMY'S KISSES

By: Lavina Burgess
10/28/03

Mommy...
Today I fell and scraped my knee
But looked around, and you were nowhere near
I wished you were here to make the pain go away
Mommy...
A little birdie fell out of a tree, and broke his wing
And no longer will he sing
I sure hope his mommy will find him soon
Before the kitty eats him, for a snack at noon
Mommy...
I got an A+ on my math test
I have it in my pocket, do you want to see?
The teacher gave me a sticker
And said she was very proud of me
Mommy...
Guess what? I learned to ride my bike today
And I didn't even scrape my knee
I kept looking back to see...
If you were looking back at me
Mommy...
I read a book this week, it was about a little kitty
It looks just like the one, you said I could have some day
With big green eyes, and soft, soft fur
And remember, you said she can even sleep with me

Listening for footsteps, outside my bedroom door
I slowly closed my eyes, then I cried myself to sleep
While patiently waiting...
For my mommy's kisses, one more night !
