      The Fox and The Field

I'm back here in my lonely field
Waiting for my heart to heal
I watch the sun disappear
As I sit in my lonely field

The darkness comes quick
This time of year
I see it get dark
As I sit here

Soon my friend the fox will be here
He'll be preparing for wintertime
He often sees me sitting here
In this field of loneliness

I often come to this field
To escape all my fears
I was here when she left
This lonely field is all I have left

My friend the fox
Goes running by
He looks over at me
As if to say Hi

The last time he saw me
I was feeling so sad
Because my life was going bad
Because I lost something I once had

The fox and me are buddies now
He knows when he sees me
Sitting out here
He has nothing to fear

Sometimes he'll come and sit with me
Together we watch the world go by
I tell the fox of my wish
That my lost love was still here

Soon the fox will have to go
In his desperate search for food
He crosses the field and doesn't look back
But I know he'll be back

While I'm sitting in this lonely field
The moon starts rising from behind the hill
It shines its light across my field
So now its time for me to leave

I slowly walk down the footpath
Suddenly I begin to laugh
I think of my loved one
And what we have shared

I think how she still wants to be friends
Its that thought that's in my head
I know she won't love like she once did
So I'll keep coming to my lonely field
