               Once Was

The flame that was once in my heart
Has finally burnt itself out
The flame that died over a year ago
Leaving my heart empty and cold

Nothing has managed to relight the flame
Nothing will ever be the same
The flame that once was
Will be no more, except for pain

No more will I smile
Or laugh out loud
I will always be
A shadow in the crowd

The joy that once was in my heart
Will be no more now the flame is out
My life will seem boring and dull
For years I have already known

But what if the flame is relit
Will I feel like I once did?
Will my heart be filled with joy?
Will my life then restart?
