      The Countryside

Here amongst the countryside
Nature and man live and thrive
The animals know they have no fear
Of the people that live so near

Rabbits nibble on the grass
They birds they fly so close
In the distant fields I see
Horses run oh so free

A squirrel leaps from tree to tree
The stops for a second to look at me
He then continues on his way
With a clear flash of grey

A fox darts across the lane
Down a ditch and over a drain
As I drive along the lane
The fox is still running away

I park the car where I live
I'm glad to be back where I live
And as I walk toward the door
A friendly cat begins to purr

I bend down and pat his head
I tell him its time for bed
The cat turns and runs away
Into the darkness of the night

Before I head off to my flat
I look at the stars in the sky
They shine so very bright
In the early hours of the night

Out in the countryside
Everything seems so right
The animals run so free
While I work and while I sleep
