        A Lonely Child

A lonely child just sitting
Sitting under a lonely tree
A lonely child crying
Under a weeping willow tree

A child with no ones love
No hand to guide the way
A lonely child sits and cries
Dreaming of what might be

What happened to this child?
To feel oh so sad
Why does he always cry?
Why is he so alone?

This lonely child sits and waits
For a friendly helping hand
This lonely child hopes and prays
That God spares his life

I see this lonely child
Sitting under his lonely tree
I stop and I have to stare
This child looks like me

I walk over to the tree
The child then looks up
I ask him why it is
He cries beneath this tree

He tells me no one loves him
He talks of so much pain
As I sit and listen
This child sounds just like me

Just like him I've wept and cried
Under a lonely tree
I take his hand and assure him
He'll be fine with me

We'll both search for the love we seek
We'll become a team
The child stops his crying
And smiles right at me

So off we go in search of
The love we both seek
This child is feeling loved again
All thanks to me
