Scenes From Bus Rides Home # 5(The Handbag Thief) He grabbed the old lady's handbag- She screamed-waved hands in air, He ran like hell to hide away, But, two young men did hear The lady's shouts and saw him run, Gave chase and tackled him, Brought him down to the night sidewalk As two beat cops closed in. He was handcuffed, her purse returned, She thanked the cops with hugs While two young men did turn and walk From her, the cops and thug. As in my seat where I sat still, My thoughts went with those men, Young men who heroes were that day With no thanks in the end. Were those two teens of long hair that Society condemns Or maybe angels sent from God To show evil won't win? These scenes I see do enthral me Where rights and wrongs collide, As homeward bound in busses old Through quaint downtown I ride. W.C.Hull © 2003 If you liked it, please scroll down and vote for it.
