I Thought I Knew You

When I was little
I looked up to you
you took care of me
when I was sick,
you were there
when I was sad.

Through my teen years
we were so close,
we'd laugh and
joke around with eachother
then suddenly,
you changed,
changed for the worse.

Now that I'm
a grown woman
you feel nothing,
but jealousy and hate
you never come around,
you don't call,
now the only person
you care about
is yourself.

You never ask
how I'm doing,
you never wonder
how the grandchildren
are doing at school,
I thought I knew you.

I wrote this about my mother.
