If I had only known

If I had only known
Those secrets that you kept
The ones you hid away
Even when you wept
Were never meant for words
Were never meant for sound
The ones you never told me
Locked with you in the ground
The things I never said,
The things I should have known
There are no second chances
When heaven is your home
An empty page you left me
A spirit mocked in tears
Crying self illusions
That never knew your fears
I’m angry at you now
I’m angry at myself
A confusion of emotions
From your picture on the shelf
To hold you one more time
To tell you its okay
Seems far off in the distance
Now that you are away
Someday we’ll meet again,
Someday Ill hear your song
Someday it will be better
Someday it won’t feel wrong
Until then I am trapped here,
And I’ll question why,
You could not fight your demons
You felt you had to die
An instant human reaction
To lye drowning in the strife,
What's a girl to do,
When her best friend takes his life.
