Running, jumping, skipping, scuffing,
Off to find some friends
To play a game of soccer or
Ride his bike again.
Talking, shouting, laughing, screaming,
Comic books to read,
Shirtless, lace less, scruffy, hungry,
Food he'll always need.
Music, games and Pepsi cola,
Money for the store,
Tape deck blasting Garth Brooks country,
Posters on his door.
Swinging, scrapping, singing, T.V.,
Swimming, ball games, catch,
Soft drink liners, questions, answers,
Front door he won't latch.
So late to sleep, then first to wake,
New day to begin.
Such was the youth of my son Craig
At the age of ten.
