A Pink Rose, Washed From Sea

Looking out to the ocean
As far as I can see
The feel of the gentle waves...
Splashing at my feet

I noticed a pink rose...
That the waves brought in
With it's petals still soft
And not yet hurt...by the salty seas

A pink rose on the beach
As it brushed against my knee
I looked around...
Then... I gently picked it up

As I touched it's petals
Still soft to the touch
I thought of someone's wedding
And wished them good luck

I gently put it down
As another petal... fell to the ground
With another rush of waves
And still...the pink rose was saved

Was that rose...
For that special someone?
Or was it sent...to a special soldier
That was killed at sea?

I picked up the rose...and a tear fell down
And thought...
Was that rose... for our 40th president
That had just passed away?
I gently put it back down... for all to see!
