My Holiday

My holiday has come and gone,
No wonder that I sit forlorn,
I have to sit and wait a while,
For lazy days that make me smile.

I fill the car with tee shirts plenty,
And fill the tank if it seems empty,
I set off on the open road,
To find my holiday abode.

And travel light I sometimes may,
Abandon items on the way,
Make room for others newly bought,
At destinations sometimes sought.

Abandon old and welcome new,
And purse now lighter by a few,
Spend a fortune count the cost,
Once again becoming lost.

Look in wonder at the view,
Walk barefoot in morning dew,
Things I do when I'm alone,
And never, ever, when I'm home.

Meet new faces, wine and dine,
Pray the weather's dry and fine,
Time to simply pass my way,
Wishing I could always stay.

Watch the sunset on the bay,
Enjoy a glass of Beaujolais,
Time in company, time alone,
Vacation over, now I'm home.
