Autumnal Sonnet

Today the sky is cloudy darkest grey,
The autumn chill seeps coldness to my bones,
As nature signals change is on the way,
A glorious rich landscape now unfolds,
I say goodbye to summer's gentle breeze,
Which softly caught me with a tender kiss,
Prepare myself for winter's icy freeze,
Caress the memory of summer's bliss,
The long dark winter nights now lie ahead,
I feel some trepidation for the storm,
The daily struggle born with feet of lead,
I pray that God will keep us safe and warm.
The falling leaves remind me of the reason
I contemplate another change of season.
