The Robin Who Cried You told me I was like a bird,
I flew so high, my voice unheard,
I swooped so low, I touched the ground,
And still, you never heard a sound.
I came to you at your command,
And settled there within your hand,
I hung onto your every word,
Though often knowing how absurd.
An eagle when at first we met,
And tangled up in love's sweet net,
A sparrow when I lost my mind,
My love for life I left behind.
And when I felt the love had died,
The broken hearted robin cried,
I spread my wings, prepared for flight,
And the bird became a soaring kite.
