Scenes From Bus Rides Home# 10 The Accident I, in my seat sat back, so tired From work all day that I'd acquired Down at the auto plant in town Eight to eight, twelve hours down. The bus's engine hummed its roars, Vibrations traveled through its floors And soon, I in them fell asleep, As did my legs and my two feet. I was asleep when it had come- A dump truck no one saw where from That without stop slammed into us On our way home inside this bus. No one was injured, all ok, Few minor cuts and scrapes in play. Policemen came, huge tow trucks two, Another bus to get into. Such are the things that I've gone through On bus rides home a time or two. These rides are int'resting enough Without this accidental stuff. Oh well, another late night ride, This one did jolt my sleepy pride. But, thank God I can for you write This scene from my bus ride tonight. W.C.Hull © 200564 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Send Feedback/Comments |
