Forbidden Love
The beauty and the grace
Of a flittering butterfly
On an up and down pace
Trying to catch, sigh
~
Pretty and delicate
Wanting to love and to hold
Forbidden love, must wait
I heard myself scold
~
Feeling shivers of ice
At saying no, no we mustn't
Not willing to pay the price
The thought was so unpleasant
~
I touched her face
Held her close
Her lips I begin to trace
And teased her nose
~
Whispered, I love you
And I always will
She uttered me too
Then time stood still
~
I kissed her and walked away
My voice quaking
Many words I didn't say
Tears forming, my heart aching,
~
When I see butterflies in spring
Flittering here and there
My heart begins to sing
Wishing she was near
