Because of Katrina we lost our home, many lost their lives. Some stealing what they could while the terror cuts like a knife. Watching the waters as they ravishly rose, piercing our hearts and stinging our toes. Living to hang on to the top of the roots. longing for help while being stung by the truth; that They're not coming! While days had passed my own baby's now gone, she tried so hard to just hang on. But.... hunger struck, but it was fear you know, that settled within her little broken heart, and she just let go. If I'd be granted one wish to make, it would be that this too was just a bad dream, or horrid mistake; of nature. And then to see them come by tanks, to bring us aid, we all gave thanks. We can't undo what Katrina's done, but... again, our Nation proves, She's number 1. By standing Strong, and side by side, My Country Tis of Thee, is a beautiful Bride. While in one corner, we're keeping score, while dying there, for Freedom through War. And in another, Bus by Bus, the People show again through their actions, just in who they trust. We can't say Thank-You quite enough, for the job we all have to do now, will be quite rough. To know we survived this, there must be a reason, for a lesson is learned in our valuable season; called LIFE ! For, others are watching, I hope they will see, this is why we feel honored to live here, in our land of the FREE! While Old Glory is still waving, the People's victory stands true, we believe in each other, cause we've always come through; somehow. With Another's compassion and making the choice, for coming to our rescue and being the voice of thousands; We Thank-YOU!!!! For saving the Animals, and taking the stand, and helping us rebuild our valuable land. We all can get through this, for I'm starting to find, by standing In unity, there's healing of our hearts and our minds. While some say we're cruel, and the U.S. is mean. AHA!, I say, please look again, because of Katrina it's taught us all humbleness. For the Storm did not count on the love from the People. To rebuild it again, We shall start with a steeple. A Monument firm, and quite tall, to be a constant reminder to us all, of how truly lucky and blessed we really are; To Be Here, To Be Free, To Be Alive. Written with great admiration and respect for the People who came to the aid of many, and who stepped outside of themselves to show compassion to another is truly a Hero!! When we the People come to the rescue of those in need as you have done now, makes me so very proud to be An AMERICAN!
