I went over to a family friend's house today
She has a heart of gold,
Today was her birthday
A true friend to behold.
I did something out of the ordinary
Something for her to treasure,
I gave her an autographed book of poetry
Her happiness wasn't anything that could be measured.
She thanked me for the gesture of kindness
But told me to keep it for myself,
Her face held a smile of softness
But I insisted she keep it, I have one home on the shelf.

Happy Birthday Hazel. :o)
This will be going into a tribute and dedication poetry book. And, I will also give one of these to her. :o) She is a wonderful soul. Her husband passed away 3 weeks ago tomorrow. They were together for 25 years or more.
