Sharing The Fun

A long hot shower
To ease my aching body
it was already a half hour

I grabbed a towel as I stepped out
The phone rang, I let it ring
My mind was cloded in doubt

I looked into the mirror
It was steamed over
no reflection did appear

It was then I started ponder
I wiped it with the towel
Who am I? I wonder?

I looked and I didn't relate
What happened to me
I used to be lively, not sedate

I had lost myself, the Me
So busy taking care of others
Absorbed by others, I ceased to be

When it happened I am not sure
It slowly slipped away
My whole life is but a blur

Kids yelling at the door
Staring in the mirror
The phone ringing once more

I laughed, and began to cry
Muttered, I will change it
Cracking up me? Why?

I dressed and opened the door
The kids were wrestling and fighting
To each, cold water I began to pour

They yelled at me
Gawd!! that was really cold
I said “I was tired of being a referee”

If you need a ride and me to drive
We will exchange services
To keep me happy you must strive

I will make a list of chores to be done
Laundry and cleaning house
You now get to share the fun
