When are you coming home, son?
I miss your smile,
You've been gone for quite some time now
We haven't talked for a while.

When are you coming home, son?
How are things, all right?
I still have that picture you gave me
I look at it every day and night.

When are you coming home, son?
I know this war's been hard on you,
I still remember the day you left
I said, I loved you.

When are you coming home, son?
I see the plane landing there,
But it's a coffin draped with the flag
'Tis something I can not bare.

When are you coming home, son?
I remember days gone past,
I now stand, looking over your gravestone
You were taken from me, your life went fast.

Being a Canadian, writing this bothered me. Thinking about the American troops in Iraq and the Canadian troops in Afghanistan. When will our governments finally see what they are doing is wrong and send our troops home?
