On a cold December day
In nineteen eighty,
A man gunned down
On a New York street.

A man whom talked about
Giving peace a chance,
Was gone in an instant
Not a second glance.

A peaceful life lost
There was no pretending,
Eyes all over the world cried
For John Lennon.
