PTSD Post tramumatic syndrome Disease

my father fought war in vietnam

he said"it was hell, it was hot
like somehow they was forgot
boys dropping to their knees
suffering those darn sand fleas

he told of watching in the night
trees that move to the left or right
Zappers sneaking on base
122mm rockets blowing up the place

ak weapons, mortors going off
back home of this war they scoff
trip flares high in to the sky
were here fighting a war, but why?

everyday friends injured or die
fully loaded choppers fill the sky
hanoi hanna said good morning
warned those not returning

from the battle of the day
but on they fought no matter, hey
b52s bombed the ho chi mon trail
they had to win , they couldn't fail

time to go home there job done
58,000 plus the bells hadbeen rung
nightmares, frrightening screams
vietnam still with him it seems

he saw a sign of a vietnam wall
portable at camp grayling, it was tall
when he walked to the wall,
he gave out a cry, and started to bawl

where is his friends name
to find out was his aim
gold star mothers held him
tightly as they helped him find jim

to not talk or remember he tried
My father had never cried
till he saw that Jim had died
his name on the wall he spied

crashing drunk and lost not found
he was unleashed and hell bound
the memories, the hurt, rage was found
My father had a nervous breakdown
