I Remember You, My Leonard

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Oh how those people gathered,
They'd come to see a show,
An enigmatic character,
That many didn't know,

Of course they'd heard about you,
You had a unique style,
I couldn't wait to see you,
You'd been with me a while,

I recall the theatre buzzing,
And then you took the stage,
Your presence overpowering,
The wisdom of a sage,

A deafening sound of silence,
And then, I heard you speak,
I think I fell in love with you,
I felt my knees go weak,

You sang your songs of love and hate,
The crowd were mesmerised,
And when you did your encore,
I stood alone and cried,

You saw me on that balcony,
You saw me stand and cry,
And then you sang a song for me,
That's no way to say goodbye ….

I remember you, my Leonard,
In nineteen seventy three,
I listen now and wonder,
Do you still remember me?
