Stained Glass Window

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I took some time to stand by a stained glass window,
Permitting the rose tinted light to invade me,
Lifting the saddened heart,
And surrounding me with love,
There is peace in this place,
And silence settles the mind,
The sun shines through the glass,
Casting a rosy hue at my feet,
And I feel serene,

All is quiet here,
No sombre music,
Nor loud aggressive persons,
To jar me,
I watch the coloured shadows on the floor change,
As clouds pass over,
They darken and lighten again,
And the glass glistens in the sun,

On a plain plaster wall,
Hangs a painting of Christ,
His famous, final crucifixion scene,
Played out in all its glory,
He looks down at me benevolently,
And I wonder ….
Did I see him smile through his pain?

I drank from the well of contentment,
Quenching my thirst for safe sanctuary,

I took some time to stand by the window,
Until, I felt the need to walk away.
