Burning Up The Skies

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The darkness kept me company,
Through a long and endless night,
I listened to some music,
Mr. Cohen felt so right,

I listened to those songs again,
That took me back in time,
A special kind of rhythm,
A special kind of rhyme,

The minutes passed so quickly,
And soon turned into hours,
Old memories recalled to me,
Lost love and springtime flowers,

I'm lost in some sweet reverie,
With no desire for sleep,
Contentment washes over me,
I pray, my soul to keep,

I'm beckoned into slumber,
By the chorus of the dawn,
Now feeling slightly jaded,
And decidedly forlorn,

I look out of the window,
There's a feast before my eyes,
The sun is rising in the east,
And it's burning up the skies,

It's there in all its glory,
The night sky turning red,
Five thirty, in the morning,
And I make my way to bed.
