Oh Death!   Where Is Thy Sting?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The day, it dawned like any other,
My workday duties done,
I ventured home to find my rest,
And sleep was sure to come,

But little did I know, that day,
Would change my life forever,
For as I lay me down to sleep,
My lack of faith, I'd sever,

I closed my eyes, no darkness fell,
Instead, I saw an aura,
And as I stared into the light,
My body seemed to hover,

My room was filled with smoky hues,
Of lilac, blue and silver,
My sleeping form was very still,
I thought, my life was over,

As I rose above my body,
Confusion filled my head,
If that was me, then who was I,
And where was I instead,

I looked at me, my eyes were closed,
And this I found alarming,
How could I see what I looked like?
It's scary and disarming,

And as I slowly floated up,
And onwards to the ceiling,
I realised, with some concern,
I had no sense of feeling,

No warmth, no cold, no sense of time,
Deep contentment now apparent,
And as I moved my hands upwards,
They seemed to be transparent,

With some alarm, I realised,
That I had somehow died,
My soul was disconnected,
"Please help me God", I cried,

And in a flash I was back again,
And looking at the ceiling,
My room was cold, the light had gone,
And all my senses reeling,

Many years have passed since then,
By far, the strangest thing,
My spirit left my body,

Oh Death! Where is thy sting?
