The Little Star

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I'm somewhat of a dreamer,
Always looking to the stars,
Unsure of what I'd find there,
They twinkle from afar,

Perhaps its' been a habit,
Carried from a childhood day,
In wonder, I would gaze there,
To seek the Milky Way,

It always looks so different,
An ever changing scene,
The evening clouds obscure my view,
What do the patterns mean?

It's far too complicated,
For somebody like me,
If I was going to get a message,
They'd make it crystal clear,

So when I came home late one night,
My glance went to the sky,
And I could not believe the sight,
Set there before my eyes,

The evening sky so dense with cloud,
The moon shone to the right,
And next to that, a single star,
Surrounded by a heart,

I looked at this in wonder,
It was such an awesome sight,
Such beauty in the skies above,
On such a cloudy night,

And once, at home, I settled down,
To think on this awhile,
And glancing at my finger,
I raised a silent smile,

For thereupon the little ring,
I'd worn right from the start,
Was a single star engraved in gold,
Surrounded by a heart.
