When I Touched The Light

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I sailed on a boat to an island,
I'd never set foot on before,
It was always there in the distance,
Mysterious; and so far off shore,

It held such a strange fascination,
My island way out at sea,
And the light that shone from the lighthouse,
Seemed always, to beckon to me,

And I sailed on a boat from the harbour,
Not knowing just what I would find,
I recall that the crossing was choppy,
As we left the mainland behind,

The boat seemed so small in the ocean,
We were tossed on the turbulent sea,
But soon my island was looming,
And patiently waiting for me,

The keeper showed me the lighthouse,
And I climbed up the long winding stair,
The light that shone in my distance,
Was just out of reach, but was there,

I told him I'd just like to touch it,
My beacon that shone in the night,
With strong arms he lifted me up there,
And I did it; I reached for the light,

And now when I stand on the mainland,
With the moon and the stars shining bright,
In the distance I still see the lighthouse,
And I remember; when I touched the light.
