Young Maiden And Her Knight

A young maiden runs down the stairs
Whisps past the castle doors,
Her Knight is heading off to battle
Her love for him, every day, soars.

She was told to stay inside
But she couldn't let him leave,
He rode up to the draw bridge
As he didn't want to see her grieve.

She leaned over the stone stair casing
To see him off,
He bid her a short goodbye
But her father, the King, walked up behind her and scoffed.

"You're mother is not going to like this
We told you to stay inside,"
"I'm not a coward, father," she exclaimed
"In the castle, I shall not hide."

The young maiden dried her tears
And said goodbye to her Knight,
When out of the shadows, he was stabbed with a sword
Blood splattered all over her gown of white.

She screamed out in horror
Her father, held onto to her tight,
This ends a short lived love story
Of the young maiden and her Knight.
