Standing outside
In the December cold,
Many of these homeless
Have stories to be told.

Lined up on the sidewalk
Waiting for a meal,
Some of them lost their families
They're hearts won't be able to heal.

Many of them had their houses repossessed
Many of them gambled,
Lost all of their life savings
For mere pennies, they have scrambled.

Some carry little children
Nestled in their arms,
Shivering against the harsh conditions
Parents trying their best, to keep them safe from harm.

They line the streets every day
In frigid temperatures,
Braving it against storms blowing in
Living days in fear, wondering if they'll make it for sure.
