They Weren't Scared

Took a drive
To the park today,
Saw deer on the trail
I was hoping, they weren't going away.

The car was stopped
I just had to get out,
It's not often I see deer anymore
I often wonder, what that's about.

I am glad I brought my camera
I had a feeling deep down inside,
That I was going to see something today
They didn't even try to hide.

I walked right up to the gate
And they looked at me,
I snapped the picture
I was filled with glee.

I walked just a little more
And took another one,
They hardly even budged
Never had a reason.

I went a bit further
The closest I've ever been,
They were getting ready to walk away
Must have frightened within.

I talked to them calmly
And they stopped in their tracks,
I took another picture
Around me, they felt relaxed.

I went on my way
And left them to eat,
They weren't scared at all
Now, my day is complete.
