Here It Is

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here it is,
The day you've finally gone,
An anti climax to the build up to your departure,
Ended in a call to say, "I won't be back,
I've found a place".

"You OK", I hear you say,
"I'm fine", I guess …

Hang up the phone; I'm on my own,
Today's the day, you've finally gone.

My mind regresses, all those years,
The end has come, no salty tears,
No angry words, no bitterness,
No feeling left, a little numb,
And sadness, yes,
That's how I feel,
I think ….
At least, there are no kids,
To play as pawns, in a game set to win.

I'd seen the signs along the road,
Which way, would you decide to go?
And I would walk the other way,
In the opposite direction to you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can't remember how it felt …
The early days,
Oh, how we laughed,
When I caught you playing air guitar,
With Eric Clapton backing you,
Oh yes, we must have laughed and loved,
But I can't remember how it felt …
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I sit awhile and call a friend,
We talk about the days events,
(omit to tell her, it don't feel right)

"Are you going out tonight?"

No, I'll sit and watch TV,
A glass of wine; a cup of tea.

Hang up the phone; I'm on my own,
Today's the day, you've finally gone.
