The Hitchhiker (chapter 6)

The nervousness started going away.
I knew I still had
to be very cautious around him.
We were on our way.
The rain had started up again,
but it wasn't a heavy rain.

Cynthia: "So, what are you doing out here
in the middle of nowhere
in a storm?"

Tony: "I was at a friend's house."

Cynthia: "So, what happened?"

Tony: "We got into a big fight
and I left."

Cynthia: "I see you are upset,
I won't ask anymore questions."

Tony: "No, that's okay,
I don't mind."

Cynthia: "Are you sure?"

Tony: "Yeah, I'm sure."

Cynthia: "So, why did you get
into a fight?"

Tony: "He broke up my
relationship with a girl."

Cynthia: "I'm sorry to here about that."

Tony: "Nah, it's okay, I knew
it wouldn't last anyway."

Cynthia: "I'll change the subject."

Tony: "What about you?
Why are you out in the
middle of nowhere?"

Cynthia: "I'm just getting back from a party."

The rain was coming down harder and
the highway was getting hard to see.

Tony: "Where are you headed?"

Cynthia: "Back to Massachusettes."

Tony: "Funny, I'm headed there too."

Cynthia: "Have you lived there long?"

Tony: "Only for a year or so."
