Speed Bump

snow boards in hand
crazy carpet too,
having a hard time
climbing up the hill,
get halfway up
and fall down,
start sliding down
the hill again.

The wind is blowing
it's extremely cold,
cold enough to freeze
the nuts off a squirrel.

Back up the hill
time to go down again,
come on everybody
hop in the van,
we'll take you somewhere else.

Pull into the parking lot,
the hill a litle less steep
a snowbank to stop your fall,
sliding down the hill
all is fine,
two feet up into the air.

You came down
with a thud,
so much for the
speed bump,
you cleared it.

I wrote this about my three kids.
But the last part was about my little boy. He laughed all the way down the hill and when he flew over the snowbank, he slid across the parking lot. Two feet off the ground he was.
