Marathon

There was a panic on the street

My heart, the beat fast

She was foxy she was sweet

I was standing so close as she ran on past

~

It was a marathon and she was running

Probably didn't even see me

But she had my heart just a strumming

If she won I just had to see

~

I was close to the finish, when she broke the string

I almost fainted, when she doubled over

She was exhausted, she gave her everything

Smiling, I yelled congratulations lover

~

She walked over to me breathing rough

Smiling and gasping too

She said “wow that was tough

And gawd, I love you”

~

There in front of the world

It was as if she was an angel from

above She kissed me, my toes curled

She proclaimed her love
